Exploring Singapore : MacRitchie Reservoir / Nature Trail

I have always wanted to go to MacRitchie Reservoir/Nature Trail. I've been seeing this on my Instagram feed and in different blogs. I knew I had to check it out myself. The only thing is, I always delay it. It's either because I have no one to go with or other plans come up. So I made a (very last minute decision) visit.

Started my day with an amazing brunch! I had some Honey Chicken with Chips (@And Why Cafe) followed by Brownies and Cinnamon Bun for dessert (@Fika Swedish Cafe) which was obviously fast consumed.

I was supposed to go to the Library and spend the whole day there. I did go though but something's telling me to pack up and leave, so I did. I went to Vivo City to run a quick errand and I thought, I am not ready to end my day at 16:45 so I took the Circle Line train and thought of going to MacRitchie Reservoir. I alighted at Caldecott MRT and walked to MediaCorp bus stop. I then took bus 980 and alighted after one stop.

Feeling all cool and spontaneous not knowing what adventure I will be having for the day.

There were a lot of stray monkeys! I was mostly scared I'd get attacked but so far I'm in one piece!

There were a lot of runners on site. I took my time, slow steps, trying to take in the beauty of the place!

I did start running halfway the trail when I have at least an idea what I'll be expecting. Too bad I wasn't able to make it to the Tree Top Walk, I will definitely be back in full gear and earlier too!

It was starting to get dark and an uncle tapped me to say I'd better start running back if I'm alone, there will be no street lamps on the trail back. So I did. And I'm glad I did because I'm pretty sure I came across 3 kinds of creatures on my way down.

Exploring Singapore: #SG50

Singapore, the place I've been calling home for the past three and a half years. And as the country marks it's 50th year, I will not miss the chance to celebrate with the great Singaporean nation.

Started off my day having brunch at Little India with my college friends. We always go to this place for a good dose of prata and buttered chicken. I am not a big fan of spicy food but this can pass.

After a heavy (and spicy) brunch, we made our way to Marina Bay as early as 12:00 to get a good spot for the program.

We had, I would say, an amazing spot. The view was just right. We were at the waterfront area.

We obviously had to make do of what we have to entertain ourselves for the 5-hour waiting time.

At around 5 in the afternoon, people from the stage area started cheering loudly. The loud cheers were followed by loud roars of plane engines as The Five Stars, a tribute to the late founding father of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, flew above us.

Isn't the view lovely? There would be nights when I will travel to this area just to have some peace and quiet. I love this place especially when the dark night is filled with city lights! Ahhh, Singapore!

And boooooom! Our 5-hours of waiting under Singapore heat was worth it. It was one of the best displays I've ever seen.

Happy Birthday, Singapore. I will not disappoint you for having me here. I have always been in awe of how united the people are to build a stronger nation. Look at where you are now, Singapore. You've come a long way! Cheers!

Exploring Singapore: Chinese Garden

It's Singapore's Day 2 of the (4-day) Jubilee Weekend. Too bad the weather hasn't been great the past few days too. But that didn't stop me from walking around. So as soon as the rain stopped, I went out (with no plans in mind).

While in the train, I searched for the keywords "things to do in Singapore", "nature", "photography", and the likes. I stumbled upon The Smart Local's article on 20 most Instagram worthy places in Singapore.

I thought of going to Chinese Garden first as it's far from my place and I thought it's a great time now before I go lazy and opt for pillow cuddles in bed again.

My 75-minutes in the train wasn't that bad as there were not much crowd around. I was surprised! I was expecting it to be crowded because, well, it's Friday and it's a public holiday!

I made a quick stop to NUS first before making my way to Chinese Garden addidng another 20 minutes or so to my travel time.

After NUS, I made my way to Chinese Garden MRT station where I met up with two of my closest college friends.

Chinese Garden is a great place to run, grab a bite, wander around alone (if you want peace and quiet away from the busy city), and/or just catch up with friends.

Because of the bad weather (and it was quite late when we were there), I wasn't able to walk around the whole park/garden. BUT... I will definitely gather the energy to visit this place again.
